Jammu: A sudden cloudburst in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday triggered flash floods, creating panic among residents of the hilly region.

The incident occurred in Maadi village of Poni tehsil, but officials confirmed there were no casualties or damage to property.

“One moment there was a loud blast-like sound, and the next, our homes were flooded,” a local tribal villager recounted.

The villager said the cloudburst struck around 3:00 a.m. on Monday. “Floodwaters rushed into the village, and we had to flee with our children to higher ground,” he added.

Police quickly reached the site to assess the situation, confirming that nothing was lost.

A large mudslide and debris blocked the road, which were later cleared by Public Works Department personnel using machinery, officials stated.
