GCOE Jammu Celebrates Hindi Diwas with Enthusiastic Student Participation
JAMMU: The Department of Hindi, in collaboration with IQAC at Government College of Education (GCOE), organized a vibrant celebration of Hindi Diwas, featuring a Poetry Recitation and Slogan Writing competition. The events, aimed at promoting the richness and cultural significance of the Hindi language, witnessed enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty.
Students showcased their talent through powerful poetry celebrating Hindi’s literary heritage, while the Slogan Writing competition reflected creativity and passion, with entries themed “Koti Koti Kantho ki Madhur Swaradhara, Hindi Hai Humari, Hindustan Humara.”
The celebrations were inaugurated by College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar, who praised the Department of Hindi for organizing events that not only highlight the importance of the language but also inspire students to preserve and promote India’s cultural heritage.
Dr. Satish Sharma, a distinguished linguist and faculty member, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the enduring role of Hindi in shaping India’s national identity. The program was expertly coordinated by Prof. Balwan Singh, who also encouraged students to explore career opportunities in fields such as publishing, media, translation, content writing, and academia, highlighting the growing demand for Hindi professionals.
Dr. Suraj Prakash from the Urdu department highlighted Hindi as a symbol of India’s composite culture, reflecting the spirit of Ganga-Jamuna Tehzeeb.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Balwan Singh. Dr. Shalini Rana, IQAC Convener, lauded the department’s efforts and emphasized the relevance and beauty of Hindi. Dr. Rajinder Kour and Dr. Rakesh Bharti also shared their insights on Hindi language and literature. The program was attended by faculty members including Prof. Sunanda Kumari, Dr. Shalika Gupta, Dr. Sushma Bala, Dr. Shubhra Jamwal, Dr. Shallu Jasrotia, Prof. Priyanka Mahajan, Prof. Chanchal Singh, Prof. Deepali Devi, Prof. Kiran Thapa, Prof. Roopa Kumari, Dr. Ambica Sharma, and Dr. Sonam Gandotra.
