CM Omar Abdullah attends 58th Engineers’ Day at IEI Srinagar, honors Sir M Visvesvaraya

SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah attended the 58th Engineers’ Day celebrations at the Institution of Engineers (India), J&K State Centre (IEI JKSC), Srinagar, where he paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya and emphasized the critical role of engineers in nation-building.

Highlighting the significance of innovation and ethical responsibility, the Chief Minister said engineers are the backbone of development and implementation. “Government initiatives and ideas may emerge in meetings, but without engineers, they cannot be translated on the ground,” he noted.

Assuring the engineering community of the government’s commitment to resolving their long-standing issues, Omar Abdullah added, “My colleagues and I are working seriously to find sustainable solutions, not just temporary fixes. Continue your efforts to develop J&K, and we will ensure your service matters are addressed.”

During the event, the Chief Minister also unveiled IEI JKSC’s policy briefs and newsletter. Advisor to the CM Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA Lal Chowk Sheikh Ahsan Ahmad (Pardesi), Chairman IEI JKSC Er. Iftikhar Ahmad Hakim, and Honorary Secretary Dr. Jahangeer Ali spoke on the occasion, highlighting engineers’ contributions to society and infrastructure development.

The celebration saw enthusiastic participation from engineers, technocrats, and other professionals.
