Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary urges Engineers, Technologists to give their best for nation’s growth and development

Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Addresses 58th Engineers’ Day at IEI Jammu Local Centre

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, Surinder Choudhary, today addressed the 58th Engineers’ Day celebrations at the Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu Local Centre.

The event was attended by Commissioner JMC, Dr. Devansh Yadav; Er. Anil Verma, FIE; Chairman, Er. Avneet Gupta, MIE; Honorary Secretary of IEI, Jammu Local Centre, along with a large gathering of engineers from various departments and organizations.

Paying rich tributes to Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya, the Deputy CM urged engineers to emulate his vision, integrity, and discipline in their professional lives. He emphasized the need for innovative, sustainable, and technology-driven solutions to build a better future. He encouraged young engineers to work with zeal, seek guidance from seniors, and called upon IEI to conduct more training programmes for budding professionals.

Highlighting that the coming decade must be technology-driven, Choudhary exhorted engineers and technologists to give their best to drive the nation’s growth and development.

Dr. Devansh Yadav, in his address, described Sir Visvesvaraya as not only an engineer but a nation-builder who laid the foundation of India’s industrial progress. He urged engineers to adopt his values of honesty and integrity to overcome modern challenges through technology and innovation.

Earlier, welcoming the gathering on the theme “Deep Tech and Engineering Excellence: Driving India’s Techade,” Er. Anil Verma said India is on the threshold of becoming a global technology leader.

On the occasion, the Deputy CM honoured former Chairman, IEI Jammu Local Centre, Er. B. B. Sharma (posthumously) with the IEI Award for his outstanding services. Former Honorary Secretary, Er. Mohinder Singh, was conferred with the D.K. Gupta Memorial Engineer of the Year Award for his distinguished professional career.

The R.L. Sharma Memorial Gold Medal was presented to Er. Ranjeev Sawhney for the best technical paper, the Rudra Bhagwati Silver Medal to Er. P. K. Nanda for the second best, and the Bronze Medal to Er. Anil Kumar for the third best technical paper for 2024–25.

The Deputy CM also released the first issue of the 23rd volume of the quarterly newsletter IEI Jammu News and a book titled “Musings Unabated” authored by Er. L. K. Mengi, Former Managing Director, J&K Housing Board.
