Jammu,: The Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district will resume on Wednesday, provided weather conditions remain favourable, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) announced.

The yatra had been suspended on August 26, just hours before a massive landslide struck the route to the shrine, leaving 34 pilgrims dead and 20 others injured.

“Jai Mata Di… Vaishno Devi Yatra shall resume from September 17, 2025 (Wednesday), subject to favourable weather conditions. Devotees are advised to follow updates only through official communication channels,” the shrine board said in a post on X.

The decision comes two days after a group of pilgrims staged a protest at the Katra base camp, pressing for an early resumption of the pilgrimage.

The SMVDSB had earlier planned to restart the yatra on September 14, but continuous rains forced an extension of the suspension. This had sparked protests by devotees, some of whom tried to breach security cordons to continue the pilgrimage against the board’s directive.
