SRINAGAR: Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment, Javed Ahmed Rana, today chaired the Board meeting of the Forest Development Corporation Limited (FDCL).
The meeting involved detailed deliberations on key administrative, financial, and strategic issues shaping the Corporation’s future course.
The Board approved outsourcing of human resources to improve efficiency and streamline workforce management. It also cleared the Balance Sheet for the financial year 2023–24 after a comprehensive review, reflecting FDCL’s performance over the past year.
On SRO-43 cases, the Board agreed to adopt the RAS framework and directed the Managing Director to present a detailed analytical report on its impact and implementation. Approval was also granted for the induction of new members to bring in fresh perspectives and expertise.
In a major decision, the Board resolved to diversify FDCL’s functional scope by exploring allied ventures, including ecotourism and commercial asset creation under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The Managing Director was tasked with preparing a detailed project report on feasibility and execution.
To ensure long-term sustainability, the Managing Director was further directed to identify and develop new revenue streams and pursue pending court cases with renewed urgency to safeguard FDCL’s legal and financial interests.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to repositioning FDCL as a dynamic, self-sustaining public sector enterprise aligned with sustainable forest management, ecological conservation, and economic growth.
