Div Com Kashmir Oversees Smooth Evacuation of Over 2,200 Fruit-Laden Trucks via Mughal Road
SRINAGAR: In a major relief for the valley’s horticulture community, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Anshul Garg, today announced that more than 2,200 fruit-laden trucks were successfully evacuated via the Mughal Road in the past 24 hours.
To ensure uninterrupted transportation, the Div Com conducted an extensive visit to Peer Ki Gali on the Mughal Road and Fruit Mandi Aglar in Shopian. During the visit, he engaged with fruit growers, traders, transporters, and horticulture representatives to assess the situation and coordinate smooth movement of vehicles.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment, Div Com Garg reaffirmed that priority is being given to the clearance of fruit-laden trucks while ensuring the continuous supply of fuel and essential commodities to the valley. He noted that close coordination between the civil administration and security agencies enabled the swift clearance of vehicles, providing much-needed relief to growers and traders.
Expressing gratitude for the timely measures, Mohammad Ashraf, President of the Fruit Growers & Traders Association, thanked the Chief Secretary J&K for his prompt intervention, which facilitated smooth transportation of horticultural produce.
Div Com Garg also urged all stakeholders to follow traffic regulations and adhere to designated movement timings to maintain order along the Mughal Road. He added that restoration work on the National Highway (NH) is being expedited to further improve connectivity.
Accompanying the Div Com during the visit were Director FCS&CA Owais Ahmad, Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta, SSP Shopian Anayat Ali, SSP Traffic, and other senior officials from the district administration, BRO, and traffic departments. Deputy Commissioner Poonch and SSP Poonch also joined the visit to oversee coordination from the opposite end of the route.
