SAMBA: Government Degree College Ramgarh has launched a month-long celebration to mark Gandhi Jayanti 2025.
As part of the observance, the college organized a special screening of films and media highlighting the life and contributions of Mahatma Gandhi. The initiative also aimed to promote awareness about “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) and “Bhrashtachar Mukt J&K” (Corruption-Free Jammu & Kashmir). The program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal of the college.
The event began with Dr. Snobar, HOD Punjabi, addressing the students on the significance of the occasion. She paid tribute to Gandhi Ji as the Father of the Nation and highlighted his role as a leader of India’s independence movement through nonviolent civil disobedience.
Darpan Malhotra coordinated the media screening, providing students with a detailed insight into Gandhi Ji’s life, his steadfast commitment to truth, peace, and social justice, and his enduring global influence as a champion of nonviolence.
Dr. Bisat Tariq spoke to students about the social and health risks linked to drug abuse, encouraging them to lead a drug-free life and guide peers away from substance misuse.
The celebration witnessed enthusiastic participation from a large number of students. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Snobar, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees for contributing to the program’s success.
