GDC Ramkote Hosts Declamation Contest on “Truth and Non-Violence”

KATHUA: As part of the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations 2025, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ramkote organized an Intra-College Declamation Contest on the theme, “Truth and Non-Violence – Relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in Contemporary Times.”

The event was conducted under the patronage of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul and saw enthusiastic participation from students of B.A. Semesters 1, 3, and 5. The competition aimed to nurture students’ oratory skills and encourage active participation in public speaking.

Participants showcased their talent, confidence, and command over language while conveying the enduring values of truth and non-violence, the hallmark of Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy. The contest was judged by Prof. Suresh Chander, HOD Dogri, and Prof. Vasundra Raje, HOD Sociology.

Seema Devi (B.A. Sem 1) secured the first position, Neha Devi (B.A. Sem 3) took second, and Kajal Devi (B.A. Sem 3) claimed third place. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by NSS Program Officer Prof. Anu Sharma, who lauded the students for stepping out of their comfort zones and embracing the platform of public speaking.
