Srinagar: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday urged the government to provide adequate compensation and a job to the family of a 12-year-old boy who lost his life in a landmine blast in Anantnag district.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, in a post on X, said that “Shahid Yousaf Mouche, a 12-year-old from Larnoo Kokernag, sustained fatal injuries in a landmine explosion near the boundary wall of the Khundroo Army camp, where he was staying with his maternal grandparents. Despite being shifted first to a local hospital in Anantnag and later to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar, he could not survive.”
Mufti described Shahid’s family as poor and devastated by the tragedy. “The government must act with compassion by granting fair compensation and a government job to the family, so they can find some support in these difficult times,” she said.
The blast occurred on Sunday when a landmine planted for the security of the Khundroo ammunition depot went off. Shahid succumbed to his injuries on Monday.
