Mumbai: The iconic ‘Bijuria’ duo, Sonu Nigam and Ishitta Arun, have reunited to recreate their 1999 hit with a humorous twist.
On Tuesday, the pair shared a fun Instagram video reviving the classic track. In the skit, Ishitta begins, “Bachchon ne accha kiya hai,” to which Sonu replies, “Bohot mast kiya hai, bohot accha kiya hai.” Reflecting on their original video, Ishitta adds, “Hamare zamane ke hisaab se bohot accha tha. Red jacket, green dress… yaad hai na, Sonu?” Sonu jokingly responds, “Ab nahi kar payenge yaar.” Undeterred, Ishitta insists, “Mat bhoolo hum kaun hai… karke dikhayenge!”
The duo then dramatically rises, clutching their backs in mock agony, before bursting into energetic dance, blending classic choreography with fresh moves. Ishitta captioned the post, “26 years later and the answer is still the same — of course we can do it #Bijuria.”
The track is part of the newly released Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. Produced and reimagined by Tanishk Bagchi, the updated version features Asees Kaur’s playful vocals, while Sonu Nigam’s timeless voice remains at its heart. The music video also showcases Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf in lively pre-wedding sequences, making it a perfect party anthem for the wedding season.
Reflecting on the remake, Sonu said, “Bijuria is one of those songs that has lived many lives… Revisiting it decades later feels like a full-circle moment. I’m humbled that the original vocals still resonate in this reimagined version.” Varun Dhawan added, “This version has a fresh, crazy energy that matches the madness of our film and makes you want to get up and dance.”
Tanishk Bagchi, taking over composing duties, described the project as a “huge responsibility” and emphasized, “It’s both a tribute and a celebration, bridging generations.”
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari releases worldwide in theaters on October 2, 2025, featuring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor alongside Rohit Saraf, Sanya Malhotra, and Maniesh Paul.
