DUBAI: Star Indian batter Smriti Mandhana has reclaimed her No.1 spot in the latest ICC ODI rankings for women, following her half-century in India’s narrow defeat to Australia.
Mandhana scored 58 off 63 balls in the opening match of the three-game series in Mullanpur, but her effort was not enough as Australia comfortably chased down the target to take a 1-0 lead.
The top ranking is a timely boost for Mandhana ahead of the Women’s Cricket World Cup, which begins on September 30. Her half-century earned her seven rating points, moving her four points ahead of England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt, who slipped to second place. Mandhana now has 735 rating points, compared to Sciver-Brunt’s 731.
Mandhana first reached the No.1 ODI batter spot in 2019 and has now held the position twice in 2025.
India opener Pratika Rawal, who scored 64, rose four places to 42nd, while top-order batter Harleen Deol climbed to 43rd following her 54 against Australia.
For Australia, left-handed star Beth Mooney moved up three spots to fifth after an unbeaten 77, while Annabel Sutherland (up four places) and Phoebe Litchfield (up 13 spots) shared 25th place following their half-centuries in the eight-wicket victory.
In bowling, pacer Kim Garth and spinner Alana King each advanced one spot to fourth and fifth, marking their career-best ODI rankings. India spinner Sneh Rana, who claimed a wicket in the first ODI, jumped five places to 13th, while England spinner Sophie Ecclestone retained her No.1 ranking.
