Ganderbal: The body of an 18-year-old boy, who drowned in a power canal at Urpash in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, was recovered on Wednesday.
Authorities identified the deceased as Owais Ahmad Baniya, son of Zubair Ahmad Baniya, a resident of Urpash, Ganderbal.
According to sources, the SDRF Ganderbal launched a rescue operation immediately after receiving information about the incident. The boy’s body was later retrieved from the canal and taken to District Hospital Ganderbal for medico-legal formalities.
The police have registered the case and are investigating the incident.
