Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday emphasized that terrorism and naxalism pose significant threats to national development, adding that completely dismantling their ecosystem is essential to ensuring peace in the country.

The Lt Governor was speaking at the launch of the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan – Healthy Women, Empowered Families”, a national health initiative spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 16-day campaign aims to strengthen screening, maternal health services, lifestyle counselling, yoga, and Ayush-based interventions for women, adolescent girls, and children.

The event also marked the beginning of the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, celebrated nationwide from September 17 to October 16.

Highlighting India’s rapid economic growth under the Prime Minister’s leadership, Sinha noted that peace is crucial for development. “Peace can only be achieved by completely dismantling the terror ecosystem. Society must recognize that those who provide ideological and financial support for terrorism and propagate false narratives threaten both peace and development,” he said.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister for dedicating the campaign to women’s health and well-being, Sinha called for a whole-of-government approach to ensure its success. “A healthy woman forms the foundation of a happy, prosperous family, which in turn builds a strong nation. This campaign represents a new chapter in women’s empowerment,” he added.

Sinha praised PM Modi’s vision, noting that prioritizing women’s health and placing Nari Shakti at the forefront of development has made women powerful agents of change. He further asserted that a ‘Viksit Bharat’ requires a ‘Viksit Jammu & Kashmir’, achievable only when economic benefits reach all sections of society, not just a few.

He called for extensive public awareness campaigns, leveraging Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Anganwadi centres to inform citizens about health camp schedules and services.

As part of the occasion, LG Sinha inaugurated a health camp, distributed medical aids, and handed over sanction letters under Mission YUVA to beneficiaries.

The Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), seeks to enhance healthcare services for women and children across India. With over one lakh health camps planned at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, and other facilities, the campaign represents the largest-ever outreach effort to promote nutrition, health awareness, and family well-being.
