Jammu: The Technology Business Incubator (TBI) of CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), Jammu, has been honoured with the “Bharat Incubator Award 2025” at the 4th Bharat Entrepreneurship Summit held at the NDMC Convention Centre, New Delhi, an official release said.
The Bharat Entrepreneurship Summit, organised annually by the Entrepreneurs Association of India (EAI), is a flagship national event that recognises excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship. The award highlights CSIR-IIIM’s significant role in nurturing startups, driving innovation, and fostering entrepreneurship in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing pride in the recognition, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of CSIR-IIIM and Chairman of IIIM-TBI, said the institute is working tirelessly to support startups in sectors such as agri-tech, nutrition, healthcare, phyto-pharma, aroma, and biotechnology.
“This award is a strong validation of our commitment to fostering innovation and accelerating economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir,” he noted.
Dr. Ahmed credited the achievement to the visionary guidance of Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of Science and Technology and Vice President, CSIR. He added that India’s startup revolution has gained remarkable momentum under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who launched the Start-up India, Stand-up India initiative.
“Changing mindsets and utilising local resources are the keys to startup success in Jammu & Kashmir,” he emphasised.
During the ceremony, Dr. Saurabh Saran, Senior Principal Scientist at CSIR-IIIM and Principal Investigator of IIIM-TBI, highlighted that the institute currently operates three incubation centres:
- BioNEST Incubator at CSIR-IIIM, Jammu
- BioNEST Incubator at Industrial Biotech Park, Kathua
- Atal Incubation Centre at IIIM Branch, Srinagar
He informed that, under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed, these centres have supported over 125 startups, with more than 20 successfully launching products in the market. He also outlined TBI’s focus on thematic areas such as the Aroma Mission, phytopharmaceuticals, and livelihood-linked innovations.
The event was attended by Chief Guest Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Minister in the Delhi Government, along with dignitaries including Manoj Kumar Singh, former Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, and senior EAI members Arun Kumar Sharma, Amitabh Verma, Vikas Preetam, and Abhishek Kumar, President of EAI.
The Bharat Entrepreneurship Summit 2025 served as a national platform for collaboration, innovation, and economic empowerment, with a special focus on youth, farmers, and women entrepreneurs.
The CSIR-IIIM Technology Business Incubator expressed gratitude to EAI for the recognition and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing science-led entrepreneurship, building a vibrant startup ecosystem, and promoting sustainable growth and opportunities across Jammu and Kashmir.
