New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that through Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation to the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, India demonstrated the strength of its response to enemies.
Interacting with a group of 1965 war veterans, Singh praised the coordination and courage of the armed forces, asserting that victories for India are no longer rare.
“We launched Operation Sindoor and showed the enemy the power of our retaliation. The courage and coordination with which our forces operated have proven that victory is no longer an exception—it has become our habit, and we must always preserve it,” he said.
Singh recalled the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, saying the incident deeply pained the nation but failed to break its morale.
“Whenever that incident comes to mind, our hearts grow heavy. But it could not shake our resolve. The Prime Minister has made it clear that the terrorists will be taught a lesson beyond their imagination,” he added.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, striking terrorist infrastructure across the border. The action sparked four days of heavy clashes before both sides agreed to cease hostilities on May 10.
Reflecting on India’s history, Singh said the country has faced constant challenges from its neighbours since Independence but has always chosen resilience over resignation.
“Difficulties have always come our way. But the strength of Indians lies in never accepting them as fate. We worked hard, shaped our destiny, and built our future,” he said.
