NEW DELHI: On his 75th birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi planted a Kadamb sapling at his official residence on Friday, a gift from British King Charles III.
The gift was inspired by Modi’s initiative, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, which encourages people to plant a tree in tribute to their mothers, the British High Commission in India noted on September 17, the Prime Minister’s birthday. It also symbolises the shared commitment of King Charles III and Modi to environmental conservation.
An official video captured Modi planting the sapling, highlighting the spirit of friendship and joint dedication to sustainability.
During his visit to Britain in July, Modi had gifted the King a Sonoma tree under the same initiative. The High Commission emphasized, “Collaboration on climate and clean energy is a key pillar of the Commonwealth and the UK-India partnership, as outlined by the two Prime Ministers in Vision 2035.”
