Deputy CM directs swift restoration of NH-44 at Thard
UDHAMPUR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today visited the affected stretch of NH-44 at Thard to assess the ongoing restoration work on-site.
During the visit, Regional Officer of NHAI, R. S. Yadav, briefed the Deputy CM on the progress of restoration, including widening work and the repair of the second tube of NH-44. He also highlighted the laying of the WBM layer to ensure smooth traffic movement and a properly maintained road surface.


Interacting with NHAI officials, the Deputy CM directed them to expedite the restoration process for the convenience of commuters and the general public. He instructed the executing agencies to mobilize additional manpower and machinery, working in double shifts to ensure timely completion of the second tube. He emphasized that restoring safe and smooth connectivity on the National Highway is a top government priority.
Choudhary also appreciated the efforts of the Regional Officer and his team for their dedicated work on NH-44.
During the visit, he inquired about stranded vehicles along the highway and directed officials to facilitate their smooth movement. He later met with local residents of Thard, listening to their grievances regarding damage to homes, and assured them that all possible measures are being taken to compensate and rehabilitate affected families.
