Ramban/Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked the owner of a hotel in Ramban district for allegedly violating the Foreigners Act by not reporting the stay of a Finnish tourist.

A case under relevant sections of the Act was registered at Batote police station against Shamsher Singh Manhas, owner of Hotel Pine Heritage in Patnitop, a police spokesperson said.

The violation pertains to the non-filing of mandatory Form C during the stay of Tuuli Lehmusjaervi, a Finnish national, who checked in on July 17 and stayed until August 29.

“Despite being legally bound, the hotel owner failed to submit Form C online to the Foreigners Registration Office within the stipulated period, amounting to a violation of Sections 7 and 14 of the Foreigners Act,” the spokesperson said.

Authorities reminded hoteliers, guesthouse operators, and landlords accommodating foreign nationals to strictly comply with reporting requirements. Any lapse, they cautioned, could invite imprisonment of up to five years and fines under the law.
