Calls for Accelerated Implementation of Developmental Targets

RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Rural Development Department (RDD) to assess the progress of various schemes and developmental works across the district.

During the meeting, the DC examined block-wise progress on Persondays (PDs) generation under MGNREGA, which currently stands at 1,33,256. Expressing concern over the slow pace, he directed officers to expedite efforts and provide justifications for the delays. Block-wise performance on asset geotagging, which has achieved 87 percent completion, and Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries was also reviewed.

Emphasizing the importance of timely wage disbursal under MGNREGA, the DC instructed officers to ensure that all beneficiaries receive their payments promptly. Progress under the supplementary MGNREGA plan, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), and Awas Plus was discussed, with officials reporting that 59,121 out of the target 62,195 houses have been completed. The DC urged the department to complete the remaining units within the stipulated timelines and reviewed the status of PMAY-U houses, calling for their early completion.

Highlighting a people-centric approach, the Deputy Commissioner stressed accountability, renewed dedication, and time-bound delivery of services to meet public expectations. He urged that bottlenecks be addressed immediately to ensure the smooth execution of rural development initiatives.

The DC also reviewed the restoration of roads damaged during recent rains, both temporary and permanent. He instructed concerned departments to clear drains, carry out urgent repair works, and adopt preventive measures to mitigate further damage.
