Dy CM Surinder Choudhary reviews academic, infrastructural, and administrative developments in Jammu division’s Polytechnic colleges and ITIs

JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today chaired a detailed review meeting at the Government Polytechnic, Jammu, to evaluate the progress of academic, infrastructural, and administrative initiatives at Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs across the Jammu division.

The meeting was attended by Secretary of the Skill Development Department (SDD) Kumar Rajeev Ranjan; Director and Special Secretary of SDD; Mission Director of the Skill Development Mission; Secretary of the J&K Board of Technical Education; Principals of Government Polytechnics and ITIs in Jammu division; and other senior officials.

During the session, the Deputy CM reviewed ongoing development projects, academic performance, and the implementation of various government schemes aimed at enhancing technical education and skill development across the division.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening technical education in J&K, he said that skill development institutions play a crucial role in preparing youth for industry-ready careers. He stressed the importance of providing these institutions with modern infrastructure and updated training modules to meet the evolving demands of industry.

The Deputy CM also examined the implementation status of centrally sponsored schemes such as Mission YUVA and PMKVY, directing officials to expedite pending works related to infrastructure, digital classrooms, and hostel facilities. He commended the efforts of Government Polytechnic College, Jammu, for fostering innovation and skill development among students.

During the meeting, the Principal of Government Polytechnic, Jammu, presented a detailed overview of the institute’s achievements, new initiatives, placement activities, and future plans, while also highlighting challenges such as staff shortages and infrastructural gaps requiring urgent attention.

Later, the Deputy CM interacted with faculty and students, assuring full government support to address key issues and elevate the institution to new levels of excellence.
