SRINAGAR: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday unveiled the special edition “Peace Jersey” of Real Kashmir FC, crafted in collaboration with iconic Danish sportswear brand Hummel, at a ceremony held at TRC Ground, Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the initiative reflects the power of sports in promoting peace, unity, and community spirit across Jammu and Kashmir.
The jersey pays tribute to Kashmir’s cultural heritage and aspirations. Inspired by the historic Hari Parbat Fort—home to a shrine, a temple, and a gurdwara, symbolizing communal harmony—the design features a sky-blue base representing peace.
Reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure, Abdullah noted that Real Kashmir FC exemplifies how football can inspire and unite communities. “Sports are a vital bridge for peace,” he remarked.
He further emphasized the intrinsic link between peace and progress: “This jersey itself carries a message of peace. From tourism to hosting day-night matches, nothing can succeed without a stable and peaceful environment. Ensuring this is a collective responsibility.”
The unveiling ceremony was attended by Satish Sharma, Minister for Youth Services and Sports; Nasir Aslam Wani, Advisor to the Chief Minister; Tanvir Sadiq, MLA Zadibal; Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare Department; Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council; Soumava Naskar, Managing Director Hummel India, along with senior representatives from Real Kashmir FC and Hummel.
