New Delhi: On the first day of Navaratri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the festival holds added significance this year as it coincides with the rollout of reduced GST rates, calling it a “GST-saving festival.”

Extending greetings, he urged citizens to join collective efforts to build a developed and self-reliant India and wished everyone good health and prosperity during the festive season.

Highlighting the importance of buying indigenous products, Modi said the spirit of swadeshi would strengthen India’s progress just as it once fueled the freedom movement.

“We must make every home a reflection of swadeshi and every shop a showcase of Indian goods,” he said.
