New Delhi: A high-altitude bike expedition featuring women CRPF personnel from Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, to Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh is set to be flagged off on Tuesday, officials said on Monday.

The nine-day rally will cover approximately 1,400 km, with the bikers returning to Srinagar on October 1. Thirty-two women officers will participate in the expedition.

CRPF Director General G P Singh is expected to flag off the riders from Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Tuesday, officials added.

“The expedition symbolizes women breaking barriers and mastering challenging terrains,” a senior CRPF officer said.

The bikers are part of the women bike-borne unit, the ‘Daredevils,’ which was recently raised within the paramilitary force.

With a strength of around 3.25 lakh personnel, the CRPF is the world’s largest paramilitary force and plays a crucial role in internal security, including combating Left Wing Extremism (LWE), terrorism in Kashmir, and insurgencies in the northeastern states.
