Srinagar: A team of doctors from Bengaluru embarked on a nationwide cycle rally on Monday, journeying from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to raise awareness about oral health. The rally was flagged off from the iconic Ghanta Ghar at Lal Chowk.

According to the organisers, the initiative aims to promote preventive dental care, proper oral hygiene practices, and early detection of oral diseases, including oral cancer, among the public.

Spanning over 3,600 kilometres across multiple states, the rally is expected to conclude in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, after nearly 45 days. The cycling team, composed of dentists and oral health professionals, will conduct oral health camps, awareness sessions, and free dental check-ups in several cities and towns along the route.

Special attention will be given to rural communities and schools, where access to dental care is often limited.

Brinda Godhi, a senior dentist from Bengaluru, highlighted the significance of oral health in public well-being. “Through this rally, we aim to educate people on simple yet essential practices like brushing twice daily, avoiding tobacco, and undergoing regular dental check-ups. By cycling across the country, we also wish to symbolize endurance, commitment, and the importance of sustained efforts for public health,” she said.

The organisers added that the team will document the journey on social media to engage a wider audience and inspire nationwide action.
