RAJOURI: Following the directions of District Development Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, the Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), organized an Aids and Appliances Distribution Camp for senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) at Dak Bungalow, Rajouri.
Held under the Sewa Parv 2025 initiative, the event was graced by DDC Chairperson Advocate Naseem Liyaqat Choudhary as Chief Guest, along with MLA Rajouri Iftkar Ahmed.
At the outset, District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Rahim announced that 216 senior citizens would receive 1,064 units of aids and appliances, including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, knee braces, and foldable chairs.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC Chairperson praised the Social Welfare Department for its tireless efforts to ensure welfare schemes reach every corner of the district and lauded its support for senior citizens and vulnerable groups.
MLA Iftkar Ahmed highlighted the revised pension rates and assured that similar distribution camps would be organized across all district blocks to reach remaining beneficiaries, ensuring maximum coverage under the scheme.
The camp saw enthusiastic participation from senior citizens and their families, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and ALIMCO for their dedicated service and timely assistance.
