JAMMU: A month-long Cutting and Stitching Training Programme was inaugurated today at Block Pargwal in collaboration with RSETI (SBI), under the livelihood initiatives of JKRLM. A total of 35 participants have enrolled in the training.
The programme is designed to benefit Self Help Group (SHG) members from the border Panchayats of Gurha Manhasa, Pindi, Hamirpur, and Pargwal, where livelihood options are scarce. By equipping women with tailoring and stitching skills, the initiative aims to create sustainable income opportunities and promote self-reliance among rural communities.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, formally inaugurated the training in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Anmol Rathore, BDO Pargwal, Director RSETI (SBI) Sunny Goja, RSETI Faculty Member Sheetal, and Block Programme Manager JKRLM, Namneet Kour.
Addressing the trainees, Dr. Minhas emphasized the significance of skill-based programmes at the grassroots level, which ensure both wider participation and hands-on learning. He encouraged participants to make the most of the training and move towards financial independence.
The Deputy Commissioner also assured continued support from the district administration to help the trainees establish and expand their entrepreneurial ventures.
