DC urges public cooperation to uphold peace, harmony
JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rakesh Minhas today chaired a meeting with civil society members to deliberate on key civic and administrative concerns of the district.
Dr. Minhas commended the community’s resilience and unity during the recent floods and reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to address issues of public importance. He cautioned against attempts by vested interests to disturb peace in Jammu, stressing that “exemplary and proportionate action will be taken against any disruptive elements.”
Highlighting the pivotal role of youth and civil society in fostering social harmony, the DC directed property owners to ensure mandatory tenant verification at the nearest police station before renting out or employing outsiders.
The meeting also reviewed concerns related to drug abuse, thefts, parking, and encroachments. Dr. Minhas assured systematic redressal of these issues and urged citizens to voice genuine grievances while helping to eradicate corruption, assuring them of the administration’s accessibility.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joginder Singh reiterated the importance of tenant verification, noting that police have already acted against violations.
ADC Ansuya Jamwal, Assistant Commissioner Anmol Rathore, and representatives from civil society and social groups also attended the meeting.
