Srinagar: Director General of CRPF, GP Singh, on Tuesday reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering support for the people of Kashmir, stating that the CRPF will stand by them in both happiness and sorrow. He made these remarks while flagging off the third edition of the Mahila High Altitude Bike Expedition from Lal Chowk.
“Flagging off this expedition from Lal Chowk, the historic heart of Kashmir, fills me with immense joy, pride, and honour. I want to assure the people of Kashmir that the CRPF will always remain steadfast by their side, ready to support them in every possible way,” Singh said during the ceremony.
Organised by the Srinagar Sector of CRPF, the expedition will cover nearly 1,400 kilometres, journeying from Srinagar to Pangong Tso via Khardung La (17,600 ft) and back. The bikers carried the National Flag along with the Force’s message to the nation: “Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak.”
This event is part of a series of exclusive Mahila Bike Expeditions initiated by the CRPF to instill pride and test the physical and mental endurance of its women personnel. The first expedition, in March 2023, covered the route from Delhi to Jagdalpur, while the second, in September 2023, traversed Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia.
Speaking to reporters after the flag-off, DG Singh said, “I congratulate everyone participating in this high-altitude expedition from this historic place of Kashmir. I also thank the people of Kashmir for their continued support.”
A total of 98 women will participate, riding from Srinagar to Pangong Lake and back. The expedition, running from September 23 to October 1, will navigate some of the toughest terrains in Ladakh and Kashmir.
Expressing their excitement, one of the participants said, “We are looking forward to the expedition, and our primary objective is to travel safely.”
