NEW DELHI: India has extended the closure of its airspace for Pakistani civilian and military aircraft until October 24.
Pakistan, in turn, has also kept its airspace closed to Indian planes until the same date. Both countries have maintained these restrictions since April, following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Separate Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) have been issued by India and Pakistan to formalize the extension. According to the NOTAM issued by India on September 23, airspace will remain off-limits to Pakistan-registered aircraft, as well as planes operated, owned, or leased by Pakistani airlines or operators, including military flights.
The closure will be in effect until 23:59 UTC on October 23, equivalent to 05:30 IST on October 24.
India had initially imposed the airspace ban from April 30 after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, and has since extended the restrictions multiple times.
A NOTAM provides critical information essential for personnel involved in flight operations.
