Srinagar: Srinagar Police on Wednesday clarified that a suspicious object found near the Passport Office turned out to be firecrackers used during a nearby wedding celebration.
According to a police statement, the area was immediately cordoned off, and the Bomb Disposal Squad was called in to examine and safely defuse the material.
The police also reminded the public that the Supreme Court and the National Green Tribunal (NGT) have banned the use of firecrackers containing harmful chemicals. “Any violation will attract legal action. Citizens are further warned against spreading rumours, as strict action will be taken against such offences,” the statement added.
