KISHTWAR: Under the “Sewa Parv” campaign, the Department of Library and Information Centre at Government Degree College Kishtwar organized a Book Review Competition today. The initiative aimed to encourage students to engage with books and cultivate a culture of reading within the college.
The competition centered on Mahatma Gandhi’s autobiography My Experiments with Truth. Participants presented insightful written reviews, reflecting on the book’s timeless relevance and moral teachings.
The event was coordinated by the college librarian, Rafiq Ahmad Rather, who highlighted the importance of libraries in the digital age and familiarized students with the resources available at the college library.
A panel of judges—Dr. Mehraj Ud Din Lone, Prof. Prithvi Raj, and Prof. Esar-ul-Ayoub—evaluated the entries. Archana Dhar of the 5th semester secured first place, Chanaya Devi of the 5th semester finished second, while Iram Naz (3rd semester) and Sameer Sharma (5th semester) shared the third position.
College Principal Prof. Basharat Iqbal congratulated the winners and commended the Library Department for organizing the event under the Sewa Parv initiative. He encouraged students to embrace reading as a lifelong habit.
