SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has assisted Government Secondary School Durbal, Budgam, in setting up a new science laboratory.
This effort is part of the University’s school outreach initiative under the DBT Star College program. Led by the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry, Shuhama, the program seeks to promote science education and inspire students to pursue careers in scientific fields.
As part of the initiative, SKUAST-K provided essential laboratory equipment and supplies, donated by the Division of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine. At the inauguration, Prof. Riaz Ahmad Shah, Dean of the Veterinary Faculty, highlighted the University’s commitment to societal development, emphasizing that such resources aim to create an engaging learning environment and offer students insight into advanced scientific research.
The event included a hands-on session where students and staff learned to operate the new equipment and perform basic experiments. Students also had the opportunity to interact directly with the SKUAST-K scientific team.
Shahida Bano, Principal of the school, expressed her gratitude, noting that the laboratory will play a key role in motivating students to develop a deeper interest in science.
The program was jointly organized by the Divisions of Veterinary Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine and Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology of SKUAST-K.
