Calls for Strengthening Rural LPG Distribution Network
SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma, today met with representatives of leading oil companies, including HPCL, to review the availability and supply of LPG in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in light of recent road blockades.
During the discussions, the Minister stressed the importance of ensuring uninterrupted LPG supply to households across the Union Territory. The oil company representatives assured that supply chains are being maintained daily and every effort is being made to prevent inconvenience to the public.
Highlighting the critical need for smooth delivery, Satish Sharma urged oil companies to prioritize trucks carrying LPG cylinders and coordinate closely with authorities to ensure their safe and timely passage.
The Minister also emphasized expanding the LPG distribution network, particularly in rural and border areas, so that families in remote regions have reliable access to cooking gas. He directed officials from the FCS&CA department to work in close coordination with oil companies, streamline distribution channels, and continuously monitor stock levels to prevent shortages.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare, Satish Sharma stated that ensuring essential supplies, including LPG, remains a top priority, and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard consumer interests across Jammu and Kashmir.
