Deputy CM Honors Pharmacists for Strengthening Health System
JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary today inaugurated the World Pharmacist Day celebrations at the Madr-e-Meharban Campus of Health Sciences, Prabha Harjilal College of Pharmacy, Jammu.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy CM praised pharmacists for their vital role in healthcare delivery and reminded students of the responsibilities they carry as integral members of the patient care team. He also paid tribute to the dedication of pharmacists and doctors during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting their courage and commitment while many others stayed at home.
He lauded pharmacists for their contribution to building healthier communities and strengthening a sustainable health system. Advising students to pursue their studies with dedication, he encouraged them to fulfill the aspirations of their parents.
Assuring the students of the government’s support, the Deputy CM emphasized that the Omar-led administration is committed to creating employment opportunities for the youth and exploring new avenues for their growth. He also commended the management of the Madr-e-Meharban Campus and assured the college of full governmental support.
During the event, College Director Professor R.K. Raina presented the vote of thanks and shared that additional sessions were organized as part of the World Pharmacist Day celebrations, including a pre-inauguration scientific session on the Herbal Drug Development programme.
Experts from leading institutions also addressed the gathering. Among them were Professor Z.A. Bhat, Dean of Applied Sciences, University of Kashmir; Dr. Praun Kumar Gupta, Senior Scientist at the Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu; and Professor Duriaswamy, Principal of JSS College of Pharmacy, Najwal, who highlighted recent advancements in pharmacy and related fields.
