New Delhi: The Government of India has approved the extension of General Anil Chauhan’s tenure as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The extension will be effective until May 30, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, sources said. In his dual role, General Chauhan will continue to oversee the strategic, operational, and administrative functions of the armed forces.
Commissioned in 1981, General Chauhan has had a distinguished career, holding several key command and staff appointments. A recipient of the PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, and VSM, he has been serving as CDS since September 30, 2022.
