SRINAGAR: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health, and Medical Education, Sakeena Itoo, today chaired a meeting at the Civil Secretariat to review the performance and functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE).
The meeting was attended by JKBOSE Chairman and Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education, Shantamanu; Secretary School Education, Ram Niwas Sharma; Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo; Director School Education Jammu, Naseem Javid Chowdhary; Secretary JKBOSE, Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, and other senior officials from JKBOSE and the School Education Department.
During the meeting, Minister Itoo conducted a comprehensive assessment of the Board’s overall performance, examination processes, evaluation system, curriculum development, digitisation services, and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening school education across Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the officers, the Minister emphasized the timely conduct of examinations and the strengthening of grievance redressal mechanisms for students. She instructed that all curriculum updates be completed before the start of the new academic session.
The Minister also directed JKBOSE authorities to ensure that textbooks are available by the end of November to prevent any supply issues and asked for a streamlined distribution mechanism to schools.
Commending JKBOSE for its student-centric initiatives, Minister Itoo urged officers to establish an efficient evaluation system to ensure timely declaration of results. Highlighting accountability and efficiency, she stressed the need for ongoing infrastructure upgrades, staff capacity building, and closer coordination with schools to address challenges related to examinations.
“Education is the foundation of our future. JKBOSE plays a pivotal role in creating a transparent, modern, and student-friendly examination and evaluation system. Strengthening these institutions will ensure that every child in Jammu and Kashmir has access to quality education,” Sakeena Itoo said.
She further instructed the Board to release the 10th and 12th class date sheets in a timely manner to facilitate student preparation. During the meeting, Secretary JKBOSE presented a detailed action plan for upcoming examinations and other Board activities.
