JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary today attended the closing ceremony of the month-long Hindi Pakhwada celebrations at Akashvani, Jammu, aimed at promoting the use of Hindi in official communication.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy CM stressed the importance of using Hindi effectively among the general public while also increasing awareness of the language among government employees. He highlighted that Hindi, being the third most spoken language globally, reflects its universal significance.

Referring to Hindi as a dynamic language, the Deputy CM noted that it has evolved over time by absorbing words from various other languages, making it widely understood and easily used by people. Choudhary further remarked that Hindi has the power to unite the diverse regions of India and can help overcome language barriers across the country.

During the event, the Deputy CM also took part in the plantation drive “Ek Paudha Maa Ke Naam” and distributed prizes to winners of competitions held in various categories.

The nationwide Hindi Pakhwada, held from 2nd to 26th September 2025, featured a range of activities such as essay writing, letter writing, typing, general knowledge quizzes, and translation contests, all designed to enhance the understanding and use of Hindi among employees.
