RAMBAN: Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan presided over a grand event at Government Degree College (GDC) Ramban, organised as part of the ongoing Sewa Parv and Gandhi Jayanti 2025 celebrations.
The programme featured inter-college competitions, including a declamation contest on the theme “Gandhian Life & Philosophy”, an on-the-spot painting competition, and a quiz competition. Students from all five degree colleges in the district—GDC Ramban, GDC Banihal, GDC Ukhral, GDC Gool, and GDC Batote—participated enthusiastically, showcasing their creativity, knowledge, and understanding of Gandhian values.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the timeless relevance of Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of truth, non-violence, tolerance, and perseverance in today’s society. He urged students to embrace these values in their daily lives, work hard toward their goals, and contribute positively to nation-building. He later distributed medals and certificates to the winners of the various competitions.
Highlighting the spirit of Sewa Parv, he explained that the fortnight-long district-wide celebration aims to promote community service, social awareness, and sustainable development through diverse activities and active youth participation.
Earlier, Principal Prof. Satish Kumar welcomed the DC as the Chief Guest and briefed him about the series of activities organised under the Sewa Parv and Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.

Painting Competition: 1st – Hameera Arshad (GDC Gool), 2nd – Junaid Khatib Ganaie (GDC Ramban), 3rd – Mubasher Ahmed (GDC Gool)
Quiz Competition: 1st – GDC Ramban, 2nd – GDC Batote, 3rd – GDC Gool
The quiz was coordinated by Prof. Ram Parkash and Dr. Anuj Gupta. The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jawaid Sarver, while Dr. Vishal Baloria, HoD History, moderated the programme.
