Massive Infrastructure Push, Investor-Friendly Policies Transform J&K into Key Investment Hub: LG Manoj Sinha

JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that massive infrastructure development coupled with investor-friendly policies has transformed Jammu and Kashmir into one of North India’s most attractive investment destinations.

Addressing an ‘Investors Meet’ organized by the Department of Industries and Commerce in collaboration with ICICI Bank at Basohli in Kathua, the LG assured full government support to accelerate the Union Territory’s industrial growth.

“Industries play a crucial role in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and raising incomes. Efforts are underway to extend incentives under the Central Sector Scheme for the Development of Industries to further boost J&K’s industrial development. Our focus remains on inclusive and sustainable growth, ensuring that the benefits of development reach the poor and rural areas,” Sinha said.

Highlighting Basohli’s potential in the hospitality and industrial sectors, the LG called for a dedicated campaign to develop a skilled workforce and improve market linkages for local handicrafts and handloom products. He directed the Industry Department to initiate QR coding for Basohli pashmina, handicrafts, and paintings to enhance their global recognition. He also informed that the Union Ministry of Textiles is considering setting up a sub-centre in Basohli.

The event was attended by leading industrialists, investors, and representatives of business chambers from across the country. Senior officials, including Col (Retd) Mahan Singh, DDC Chairman Kathua; MLA Thakur Darshan Singh; Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo; Principal Secretary Culture Brij Mohan Sharma; Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar; IGP Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti; ACB Director Shakti Kumar Pathak; Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma; and Director Industries & Commerce Jammu Dr Arun Manhas were also present.
