New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday compared India’s victory over Pakistan in the Asia Cup final to “Operation Sindoor,” noting that the outcome remained the same—India won.
Posting on X, he wrote, “Operation Sindoor on the games field. Outcome is the same – India wins! Congrats to our cricketers.”
The original “Operation Sindoor” was a military mission launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, targeting terrorists based in Pakistan and engaging with the Pakistani military.
On the field, India’s young left-hander Tilak Varma showcased a brilliant mix of audacity and composure to steer the team to its ninth Asia Cup title with a thrilling five-wicket win over arch-rivals Pakistan. Needing 10 runs from the final over, Tilak sent the fiery Haris Rauf straight into the mid-wicket stands, and Rinku Singh, scoring his first boundary of the tournament, sealed the victory, sending Indian fans into euphoria.
