MUMBAI: The BCCI has announced that the Indian cricket team and its support staff will receive a prize money of ₹21 crore for their unbeaten performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup.

The announcement came after India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan by five wickets in the tournament final held in Dubai on Sunday.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia described the win as “extraordinary” and said, “As part of the celebrations, the BCCI has declared a cash award of ₹21 crore for the players and support staff who were part of the Indian team in the Asia Cup.”

However, the board did not specify how the amount would be distributed.

Saikia added, “This reward is a significant recognition for our team, the Indian cricket board, and the people of India. We are extremely proud of our cricketers and support staff for their outstanding performance in Dubai.”
