Rajouri: B.Tech Civil Engineering students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU), Rajouri, recently undertook a field visit organized by 58 RCC (Border Roads Organisation) to the 1.1 km Bhimbar Gali Tunnel and the Manjakote Bridge construction sites.

During the visit, students gained hands-on insights into practical civil engineering concepts and modern infrastructure development techniques.

At the Manjakote Bridge site, they were briefed on various stages of bridge construction, including foundation work, substructure and superstructure development, as well as the methods and procedures used in bridge launching.

At the Bhimbar Gali Tunnel, the team explained the tunnel construction methodology, the sequence of tunneling operations, and the geological characteristics of the rocks encountered. Students also got familiarized with the specialized machinery and equipment employed during construction.

The visit offered valuable exposure to real-world engineering practices and the challenges associated with infrastructure development in challenging terrains.

This initiative underscores BRO’s commitment to promoting practical learning and fostering collaboration between industry and academia for the engineers of tomorrow.
