Urges Chief Engineers to Fast-Track Works for Timely Completion of JJM Schemes

SRINAGAR: Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Khurshid Ahmad Shah, today held a virtual meeting to review the implementation progress of JJM across all Jal Shakti (PHE) Divisions in Jammu and Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by Chief Engineers of Jal Shakti (PHE) Jammu, Superintending Engineers from respective circles, Executive Engineers of all Civil and Mechanical divisions, and other officers from the Mission Directorate.

During the discussion, the Mission Director inquired about the current status of water supply schemes under JJM and was briefed on the ongoing phases of project execution. He instructed Chief Engineers to prioritize commissioning schemes that are nearing completion to ensure villagers gain early access to tap water connections.

A district-wise review of scheme progress was also conducted. Khurshid Shah reiterated the 2025 deadline for project completion and directed Superintending Engineers to monitor ground-level progress fortnightly, ensuring all timelines are strictly adhered to.

The meeting also covered onboarding the JJM 2.0 dashboard, uploading KML files of pipe networks and assets to the PM Gati Shakti portal, geo-tagging JJM assets, Har Ghar Jal certification for villages this month, and water quality monitoring by UT water testing laboratories.

The Mission Director assured officials that financial issues concerning JJM have been addressed with the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, which has committed full financial and institutional support for the mission’s implementation in J&K.
