New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday stressed the need for India’s youth to embrace advanced technological skills as the nation moves steadily towards technology-driven growth.
Addressing probationers of the Indian Skill Development Service (ISDS) at Rashtrapati Bhavan, she said skill and knowledge are the true drivers of economic growth and social progress.
“Countries with a highly skilled workforce are better prepared to respond to global challenges and tap emerging opportunities. As India advances on its technology-driven path, it is essential for our youth to adapt to advanced skills,” Murmu said.
The President underlined that the probationers would play a vital role in shaping a future-ready workforce. “Your contribution in making India the ‘Skill Capital of the World’ will be significant,” she added.
Along with the ISDS probationers, those from the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) and Central Engineering Service (CES) also called on the President.
Speaking to the ISS probationers, Murmu highlighted the growing importance of measurable indicators in governance.
“Effective policymaking depends on accurate statistical analysis. In today’s data-driven world, the role of statistics has become even more crucial,” she said.
She noted that India has entered a new era of socio-economic and digital transformation. The adoption of emerging technologies, she said, has strengthened transparency and efficiency in governance, with a continuous flow of data enabling more informed decisions.
Interacting with CES probationers, Murmu said engineers are key to technological progress and economic growth. With the government’s focus on large-scale infrastructure, she stressed the need for sustainable development.
“The engineering sector is poised for significant growth, but it is equally important to ensure sustainability,” she said.
The President urged probationers of all three services to prioritise the welfare of disadvantaged communities.
“The choices you make, the values you uphold, and the dedication you show will shape people’s lives. By serving with passion and integrity, you can help build a more prosperous, resilient, and inclusive nation,” she said.
Expressing confidence in their commitment, Murmu added: “Through your efforts, India can stand as a model of strength and progress before the world.”
