New Delhi : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered IAS officer Nitish Rajora (AGMUT: 2021), currently serving as Director Information, Jammu and Kashmir, to immediately assume charge in Ladakh. He has been deemed “Stand Relieved” from the J&K government with effect from September 30, 2025.
Rajora was transferred to Ladakh under MHA’s directive dated May 16, 2025, but had not been relieved until now. Citing the 2016 AGMUT cadre transfer guidelines, the ministry stressed that officers must be relieved within 15 days of a transfer order, failing which they are automatically considered “Stand Relieved.” Non-compliance can also attract penalties, including stoppage of salary, disciplinary action, debarment from promotion, and restrictions on Central Deputation.
The order, signed by Under Secretary Rakesh Kumar Singh, stated that all requests to cancel or suspend Rajora’s transfer have been rejected, and no further representations will be entertained.
“It is directed that Shri Nitish Rajora shall join his new place of posting in the UT of Ladakh immediately under intimation to this Ministry. Any continued non-compliance will invite disciplinary action,” the order said.
The MHA also directed the J&K Chief Secretary to stop Rajora’s salary from September 30, while the Ladakh Chief Secretary has been asked to submit his joining report.
