DODA: To mark World Rabies Day 2025, the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) Division, under the banner of District Health Society Doda, organized a one-day awareness programme at the Government Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM) School.
The event focused on sensitizing students and participants about the importance of timely vaccination, preventive strategies, and global efforts to achieve the “Zero by 30” target — eliminating human deaths from dog-mediated rabies by 2030.
Deputy CMO Dr. Sat Lal Manhas graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Among others present were BMO Ghat Dr. Abdul Gafoor, ANMT Principal Vidya Kotwal, Health Educator Mohammad Shafi Attu, and faculty members Azhar Iqbal Butt, Naveeda Anjum, and Saima Kouser.
Dr. Anzar Majeed, Demonstrator at GMC Doda and Incharge Rabies Section, served as Guest Speaker. He delivered an informative lecture and presentation on rabies, focusing on prevention, control measures, and the role of the community in tackling the disease.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sat Lal Manhas underlined the importance of public awareness in fighting rabies. He urged participants to spread the message on timely vaccination, safe animal handling, and seeking immediate medical care after dog bites. He also commended the IDSP Division for its initiative in spreading awareness among students and the community.
In her address, Principal Vidya Kotwal encouraged students to act as ambassadors of awareness within their communities. She expressed gratitude to the health department for selecting the ANMT School as the venue for such a significant programme.
