SWD Rajouri conducts assistive devices distribution camp for senior citizens

RAJOURI: As part of Sewa Parv 2025, the Social Welfare Department of Rajouri, in collaboration with the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), organized an Aids and Appliances Distribution Camp for senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY) at Government Higher Secondary School, Manjakote.

The camp saw participation from 140 senior citizens, and a total of 781 aids and appliances—including wheelchairs, hearing aids, walking sticks, knee braces, and foldable chairs—were distributed among eligible beneficiaries.

MLA Thanamandi–Darhal, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, who attended as the Chief Guest, extended his support and encouragement to the beneficiaries. He appreciated the Social Welfare Department for organizing such impactful grassroots initiatives and assured full support to ensure welfare schemes reach every deserving citizen. He also lauded the department’s proactive outreach to vulnerable groups, especially senior citizens, emphasizing the importance of such camps in strengthening social security measures.

Earlier, Tehsil Social Welfare Officer Rajouri, Nidhi Sharma, welcomed the guests and outlined the objectives and benefits of the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana. She highlighted that the scheme provides free, high-quality aids and assistive devices to senior citizens from BPL families, aiming to enhance mobility and improve quality of life.

Dr. Punit Dubey, representing ALIMCO, guided beneficiaries on the correct usage and maintenance of the distributed aids and appliances to ensure their long-term effectiveness.

The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior citizens and their families, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and ALIMCO for their continued commitment, service, and timely support.
