RAJOURI: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv campaign, a Nikshay Mitra Nutritional Kits Distribution Programme was held today at Dak Bungalow, attended by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.
Sandeep Sharma, DSEO Rajouri and Nodal Officer for the Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, informed that out of the district’s vulnerable population of 1.56 lakh, nearly 1.40 lakh individuals have already been screened. He added that Rajouri ranks second in the Union Territory after Srinagar in terms of population screened under the programme.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the significance of the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme and stressed the need for collective efforts to eradicate the disease. He interacted with TB patients, ASHA workers, and Nikshay Mitras, distributed nutritional kits, and appreciated the dedication of the nodal officer and health teams. He also instructed Nikshay Mitras to ensure regular follow-ups and home visits for effective patient monitoring.
The programme also recognized the determination of recovered patients through the distribution of appreciation certificates. Similar nutritional kit drives were conducted across all sub-divisions of the district today.
Adding to the initiative, Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri registered as a Nikshay Mitra and adopted a patient. He remarked that citizens’ contributions under Viksit Bharat play a vital role in nation-building and expressed pride in supporting the campaign.
The event was also attended by Chief Medical Officer Rajouri Dr. Manohar Lal Rana, the District Tuberculosis Officer, and other district and sectoral officials.
