CDS and Service Chiefs Meet President Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A. P. Singh, and Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, paid a courtesy call on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Meanwhile, on Monday, President Murmu extended her greetings to citizens on the occasion of Durga Puja.

In a statement released by the President’s Secretariat, she said, “On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians, both in the country and abroad.”

She added, “The sacred festival of Durga Puja reflects our culture, faith, and spiritual heritage. Worshipping Maa Durga in her nine forms not only guides us toward spiritual purification but also inspires us to uphold truth, justice, and compassion. This festival embodies the spirit of equality, tolerance, and love.”

Highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment, the President further said, “On this auspicious occasion, let us pledge to make every effort to ensure respect for women and uphold their rightful place in society. I pray to Maa Durga to bless everyone with wisdom, courage, happiness, and prosperity.”

As celebrations continued on Monday with the seventh day of Navratri, Saptami, the pandals, adorned with vibrant decorations, resonated with devotion.

Durga Puja, also known as Durgotsava or Sharodotsava, is an annual Hindu festival that honours Goddess Durga and celebrates her victory over the demon Mahishasura. According to Hindu mythology, the goddess descends to her earthly abode during this period to bless her devotees.

In 2025, Durga Puja commenced on September 28 (Shashthi) and will conclude on October 2 (Vijayadashami).
